The accuser alleges that Chris Ziegler proceeded to come to her apartment regardless and sexually assaulted her without her consent.
DeSantis initially called for Ziegler’s resignation following his debate with Governor Gavin Newsom of California.
“I don’t see how he can continue with that investigation ongoing given the gravity of those situations, and so I think that he should, I think he should step aside,” DeSantis told reporters.

Moms for Liberty has also distanced itself from Bridget Ziegler.
“Bridget was an original founder of Moms for Liberty, but she stepped back from the organization’s board in 2021,” the organization stated in a response to Politico.
