First Lady Melania Trump announced as guest of honor for Log Cabin Republicans

The Log Cabin Republicans announced former First Lady Melania Trump would be the guest of honor at its annual gala. On Tuesday, the nation’s largest organization representing conservative LGBT Americans and allies announced Melania would be celebrated with this year’s Spirit of Lincoln Award.
The annual gala honors those who have shown a commitment to personal freedom, individual responsibility and equality for all Americans. A Log Cabin Republicans spokesman cited Melania’s work as first lady with her Be Best campaign as the reason to honor her work.
“Melania Trump’s work as First Lady, from helping children reach their full potential to championing a more inclusive Republican Party, has been historic,” Log Cabin Republicans Managing Director Charles Moran said in a released statement. “Her vocal support of Log Cabin Republicans has been a signal to Republicans everywhere that it is possible to simultaneously be conservative and support equality under the law for all Americans.”

The Spirit of Lincoln dinner will be held at Mar-a-Lago on November 6.
