Judge orders Hunter Biden to find employment.
Federal Judge Orders Hunter Biden to Get a Job and Abstain from Alcohol and Drugs
A federal judge has issued a unique set of release conditions for Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, after he pleaded not guilty to tax charges. U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, a Trump appointee, has ordered Hunter to “continue or actively seek employment” as part of his release conditions.
In addition to finding employment, Hunter is also prohibited from consuming alcohol and using or possessing any drugs, unless prescribed by a licensed medical practitioner. To ensure compliance, he must submit to testing for prohibited substances if required by the pretrial services office or supervising officer. The testing may include urine testing, wearing a sweat patch, a remote alcohol testing system, or any other form of prohibited substance screening or testing. Hunter is strictly forbidden from obstructing or tampering with the efficiency and accuracy of these tests.

Hunter was initially expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax counts and enter into a diversion program instead of facing a felony gun charge. However, this plan was put on hold after Judge Noreika learned that Hunter was still under investigation for other matters. As a result, she could not accept the plea agreement at that time.
The plea deal hit a snag when Judge Noreika inquired about an ongoing criminal investigation into Hunter. The federal prosecutor confirmed the existence of the investigation but could not provide further details. The possibility of additional charges related to the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) was also raised.
Defense attorney Chris Clark expressed his belief that the plea agreement was now null and void due to the ongoing investigation. The judge acknowledged the complexity of the situation and deferred her decision on the plea agreement.
