FBI to investigate Supreme Court Dobbs leak, White House cocaine discovery
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced Monday that the agency would reopen or recommit resources to three cases that drew national attention in the last administration, including the discovery of cocaine at the White House in 2023 and the leaked Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.
“Shortly after swearing in, the Director and I evaluated a number of cases of potential public corruption that, understandably, have garnered public interest,” Bongino said on X. “We made the decision to either re-open, or push additional resources and investigative attention, to these cases.”
“I receive requested briefings on these cases weekly and we are making progress,” he added. “If you have any investigative tips on these matters that may assist us then please contact the FBI.”
The FBI will investigate who leaked the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision more than a month before it was released. The Supreme Court’s investigative body looked into the matter then but did not determine who shared the opinion.
In a second case, the agency will investigate cocaine that was found at the Biden White House over the Fourth of July holiday in 2023. The Secret Service closed the case less than two weeks later after the agency said it could not find a suspect.
TIMELINE OF A LEAK: SUPREME COURT JUSTICES THINK ROE MYSTERY COULD BE SOLVED SOON
The third case stems from two explosive devices placed outside the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee offices in Washington, D.C., in 2021, one day before the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. There is video evidence of someone placing the pipe bombs, but law enforcement has not been able to identify a suspect.
In January, the FBI released more video footage of the unidentified individual.
