FBI Director withholds findings, ignores ‘found’ video in D.C. pipe bomb investigation.
FBI Director Christopher Wray Refuses to Divulge Findings from January 6 Pipe Bomb Investigation
FBI Director Christopher Wray faced questioning before a House panel on Wednesday regarding the bureau’s ongoing investigation into the January 6 pipe bomb incident. However, Wray refused to disclose any findings during the hearing.
During the House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) asked Wray about the FBI’s response to a letter regarding the investigation. Massie pointed out that there is a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.
Wray stated, “I will work with the department to make sure we can figure out what information we can provide. As you know, this is a very active, ongoing investigation and there are some restrictions on that.”
He dismissed Massie’s suggestion that classified information may be the reason for the lack of disclosure, emphasizing that it is a matter of not commenting on ongoing criminal investigations due to department policy.

A suspect, who was captured on surveillance video as a hooded figure carrying a backpack, remains unidentified more than two and a half years after the pipe bombs were planted outside the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) and Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) offices in Washington, D.C.
The devices were discovered on January 6, the same day rioters breached the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Massie pressed Wray for information on how law enforcement became aware of the second pipe bomb near the DNC headquarters, which led to the evacuation of then-Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Massie presented a video that allegedly shows a masked individual informing D.C. police officers about the device, with Harris’ security detail parked nearby. Wray did not speculate on the identity of the individual in the video but mentioned that the FBI has conducted numerous interviews, reviewed thousands of video files, and assessed hundreds of tips.
Massie concluded the exchange by urging Wray to release any undisclosed information, stating, “It’s been 900 days. You need to tell us what you found because we’re finding stuff you haven’t released to the public.”
