Washington Examiner columnist Tiana Lowe Doescher said some Republicans will try to “reignite” the topic of the Epstein files in the future, even after President Donald Trump is expected to sign legislation related to it.
The House voted almost unanimously on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which would force the Justice Department to release all files on the convicted sex offender, on Tuesday, two days after Trump urged House Republicans to back the measure. The Senate also agreed on Tuesday to fast-track the bill to Trump’s desk.
Doescher said on Tuesday that this will bring an end to Congress’s focus on Epstein and his connections with Trump. However, she added that “a faction” of Republican lawmakers does not share this mentality, as they are “mad” that the president “dictates MAGA.”
“They are mad that World War III has not been started by Trump’s muscular foreign policy, so I do think they will keep going back to this well, because there isn’t much to run against Trump in terms of promises made, promises kept, right? Trump is doing the things that he, for better and for worse, including the tariffs, he is doing everything he promised on the campaign trail,” Doescher said on Newsmax2’s The National Desk.
“So I think it’s a way of certain Republican lawmakers that don’t have any national futures to pull at this and to try and reignite it as an issue, but materially, is it over? Yes? Yes, it is,” Doescher said.
She added that it is “pretty clear” that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) predictions about foreign policy were wrong, citing how Trump’s “Operation Midnight Hammer” against Iran in June was a success. Now, Greene “all of a sudden” cares about the Epstein files, Doescher said.

Trump pulled his support for Greene over the weekend, calling her “wacky” and a “traitor.” The president said Greene’s complaints started after he showed her polling numbers and suggested she shouldn’t run for governor or senator. Trump said anyone who plans on primarying her has his “Complete and Unyielding Support.”
Greene brushed off Trump’s calling her a traitor on Tuesday, saying she “never owed him anything.” She also criticized the president’s support for 600,000 Chinese nationals to study at colleges in the United States, saying this is not an “America First” position.
