Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Bill Clinton’s Nap During Emma Premiere
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed a long-standing rumor about former president Bill Clinton nodding off and snoring during the premiere of her period comedy film, “Emma”, back in 1996.
Snoring President
During a recent appearance on the “Hot Ones” YouTube talk show, Paltrow, aged 51, validated the story. When host Sean Evans questioned her about the incident, she candidly responded, “True – he was snoring right in front of me.”
Paltrow humorously commented, “I was like, ‘Wow, I guess this is going to be a real hit movie.’ But it was! So f*** you, Bill Clinton!”
Despite Clinton’s snooze, “Emma,” based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel, was a box office success, grossing close to $40 million globally on an $8 million budget.
Critical Acclaim
With an 84% critics rating and a 76% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, “Emma” was well-received. Paltrow’s performance as the self-assured matchmaker Emma Woodhouse garnered praise. Reviewer Ken Eisner from Variety lauded her, describing the film as a solid contender in the Austen adaptation category.
The movie received two Academy Award nominations, winning in the Best Original Musical or Comedy Score category.
In the same interview, Paltrow also shared her views on the superhero movie genre, reflecting on the industry’s current trend towards larger productions.
