Peter Navarro, former Trump aide, must report to prison next week
Former Trump Adviser Peter Navarro Ordered to Report to Prison
Former trade adviser to the Trump administration, Peter Navarro, has been ordered to report to prison on March 19 to begin his four-month sentence. This comes after Navarro was convicted on two counts of congressional contempt for defying a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee.
Navarro, who has been appealing his conviction, had requested a pause in his sentence from a federal appeals court. However, his request was denied, and he must now report to the Bureau of Prisons, FCI Miami, by 2:00PM EDT on March 19, 2024.
Navarro’s attorney has filed a motion for an administrative stay, hoping to allow the Supreme Court to review the denial of his request. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, who presided over Navarro’s trial, did not grant him the opportunity to remain out of prison during the appellate process.
It is worth noting that Navarro is the second former Trump aide to be convicted of contempt of Congress. Steve Bannon, another former White House aide, has been permitted to remain free while awaiting his appeal.
