‘Even Cardi Misses Trumponomics’: Cardi B Wants To Know When ‘They’ Will Announce The Recession

Artist and singer Cardi W raised a few eyebrows upon Sunday when she messaged about a possible economic downturn — and wondered once the experts were going to declare that one was already on the horizon.

“When y’all believe they going to announce that people going into a recession? ” she asked.

Some were quick to indicate that the typical definition of the recession meant at least 2 consecutive quarters of unfavorable economic growth — based on the Cambridge dictionary, an economic downturn is “a period, generally at least six months, of lower economic activity, when investments lose value, businesses fail, plus unemployment rises. ”

“When we have 2 consecutive quarters of UNDESIRABLE GDP growth. That’s such a recession is. There was the recession under Donald Trump in 2020, both [sic] folks overlooked it because of COVID, ” @reesetheone1 tweeted.
