Epstein ‘co-conspirators’ mention in newly dropped files brings scrutiny

Newly released Department of Justice files – part of a batch of nearly 30,000 documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein – reveal an internal, partially redacted July 9, 2019 memo showing the DOJ was investigating ten alleged co-conspirators. The memo says three of the ten were located in Florida and served grand-jury subpoenas; one each in Boston, New York City and Connecticut were served; four remained outstanding despite efforts; one was described as a wealthy Ohio businessman referred to another office; and three were “out of pocket.” The disclosures prompted congressional Democrats, led by Sen. chuck schumer, to demand the DOJ identify those individuals and explain why prosecutions did not follow, and fueled activist calls for action against former FBI official Kash Patel after his testimony. The DOJ cautioned that many sensational claims in the trove should not be taken at face value, but lawmakers are pressing for greater transparency.

Epstein ‘co-conspirators’ mention in newly dropped files brings heat to DOJ

The Department of Justice is under pressure to release more information after documents released in the latest trove of Epstein documents revealed it was investigating ten alleged co-conspirators of the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Tuesday saw the release of nearly 30,000 documents related to Epstein, many of which contained “sensationalist” claims that the department warned against taking at face value. Within the trove, however, were internal communications within the DOJ that revealed the department was investigating 10 other possible co-conspirators in 2019.

Earlier in the year, FBI Director Kash Patel testified under oath that the agency had no credible information that he trafficked girls to anyone other than himself, something critics were quick to point back to. A wave of demands requesting further information from the DOJ around these co-conspirators came quickly, led by congressional Democrats.

“Buried in the Epstein files is an email disclosing the Department of Justice was looking into at least ten potential Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirators. The Department of Justice needs to shed more light on who was on the list, how they were involved, and why they chose not to prosecute. Protecting possible co-conspirators is not the transparency the American people and Congress are demanding,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said in a statement.

Many left-wing activists demanded the immediate impeachment of Patel, saying the documents showed he lied under oath.

The main document in question was a partially redacted internal DOJ communique sent on July 9, 2019, requesting information about the co-conspirators. The message gave many details about the alleged affiliates of Epstein.

DOJ DROPS THOUSANDS MORE EPSTEIN FILES, SOME INCLUDING TRUMP’S NAME

“Of the 10 co-conspirators, 3 have been located in FL and served GJ subpoenas; 1 in Boston, 1 in NYC, and 1 in CT were located and served. 4 of the 10 are outstanding with attempts having been made. 1 is a wealthy business man in Ohio, a lead is being sent to CV; the remaining 3 are currently out of pocket. The team … is flying out tonight/tomorrow to various locations in Florida to interview approximately 25 victims,” the message said.

The existence of co-conspirators was previously unknown until Tuesday’s release.
