Emmy Awards delayed due to ongoing Hollywood strikes.

The 75th Primetime Emmys Postponed Due to Strikes in Hollywood

The highly ‍anticipated 75th Primetime Emmys, originally scheduled for September 18, will not be airing as planned. The⁢ ongoing strikes⁣ in Hollywood have forced a‍ delay, ⁣according to a report⁤ from Variety.

Both the Screen Actors⁣ Guild – American Federation of Television‍ and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) ⁢are currently on strike, effectively halting ⁢any work ⁣on Hollywood ‍productions until a resolution is ⁤reached.

This marks the first time the Emmys have ⁣been postponed since 2001, when the show was moved following the 9/11 terrorist‍ attack and ‍didn’t air until November. The event took place in ⁢a‍ smaller venue and ‌had a more somber tone, as reported by Variety.

While a new date for ⁢the Emmys has not ⁤been‌ set, Fox is reportedly expecting ⁤a January 2024 broadcast. The TV Academy had initially aimed to reschedule the ceremonies for November.

“Like ⁣the ‍rest of the industry, we hope there will⁤ be an equitable ⁢and⁢ timely resolution for all parties in the current ⁣guild⁤ negotiations. We continue to⁢ monitor the situation closely with our partners at Fox and will advise if and when⁤ there is an⁣ update available,” stated ⁤the TV Academy.

The nominations for the Emmys‌ were announced ⁣on July 12, just days before the SAG-AFTRA strike began and during the⁣ ongoing WGA strike, ‍which started on May 2. Leading the‌ list of nominations was “Succession”⁢ with 27, followed by “The Last of Us” with 24, “The White Lotus” with 23, and “Ted⁢ Lasso” with 21, as reported by DailyWire.
