Elon Musk Pitches $8 Per Month “Blue Checkmark” Plan for Twitter
Twitter owner Elon Musk provided more information on Twitter’s revamped “verification” system.
Previously, Musk said the new verification system would cost $20 a month for users to recieve a blue checkmark via Twitter Blue, which currently costs $5 monthly.
On Tuesday, Musk tweeted that it would cost $8 per month.
“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit,” the Tesla CEO tweeted, noting that prices would be adjusted by country “proportionate to purchasing power parity.”
Those who subscribe will also get “priority in replies, mentions and search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam” as well as the ability to “post long video and audio” and to receive “half as many ads.”
“And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us,” Musk said. “This will also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators.”
