Dr. Phil: Political Fringes are Tearing America Apart
Dr. Phillip C. McGraw, commonly known as Dr. Phil, had a candid conversation with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) about the state of U.S. politics. According to Dr. Phil, it’s not the traditional “Left versus Right” fighting that’s causing division, but rather the influence of the political fringes.
During a special appearance on Cruz’s “Verdict” podcast, Dr. Phil discussed the concept of being “canceled” in today’s world. He expressed his concern that the narrative in America is being hijacked by the fringe, referring to it as the “tyranny of the fringe.”
Dr. Phil highlighted how these factions in the fringe use emotional extortion to manipulate public opinion on various issues, such as toxic masculinity, transgenderism, and the history of slavery. He explained that if you don’t conform to their way of thinking, you become a target of canceled culture.
“They’ll attack you on the internet, contact your job, your church, your friends,” Dr. Phil said. He drew a parallel to George Orwell’s novel “1984,” where people would be “unpersoned.” In canceled culture, individuals are stripped of their livelihood, support system, and friends.
While acknowledging that there are individuals who have committed terrible acts and deserve consequences, Dr. Phil emphasized that many innocent people get caught up in the rhetoric without truly understanding the situation.
He warned that a small percentage of fringe tyrants will go to great lengths to eliminate anyone who doesn’t conform to their beliefs.
