The investigation, led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California under acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, began during the Biden governance and also includes other Black-led organizations involved in the national reckoning on systemic racism. The BLM foundation has stated it is not a target of any federal criminal investigation and affirms its commitment to clarity and responsible resource management. Both the foundation and the U.S.Attorney’s Office have declined further comment.

The Department of Justice is conducting an investigation into Black Lives Matter, probing how the organization handled millions of dollars in donations amid the 2020 protests following the murder of George Floyd, according to multiple reports.
Federal investigators have issued subpoenas and executed a search warrant in their investigation into the anti-racism organization and whether or not it defrauded donors who contributed over $90 million to its cause.
The investigation into the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. began under the Biden administration, according to the Associated Press. The report also said the DOJ is investigating “other Black-led organizations that helped spark a national reckoning on systemic racism.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California is leading the investigation. The district office is led by acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, appointed by President Donald Trump.
The Black Lives Matter foundation said it “is not a target of any federal criminal investigation” in a statement to the Associated Press.
“We remain committed to full transparency, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of resources dedicated to building a better future for Black communities,” the foundation said.

Black Lives Matter did not respond to the Washington Examiner‘s requests for comment.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California declined to comment.
