New Hampshire Man⁤ Indicted for Threatening Presidential Candidates

A New Hampshire man has been ⁢indicted for allegedly sending text messages threatening to kill three presidential candidates, according‌ to a release from the Department‌ of Justice.

Tyler⁣ Anderson, 33, has been charged with three counts of transmitting threats to injure the person of another across state lines. He is accused of sending a series ‌of‍ violent messages ‌to different presidential candidates.

Incidents ‌of Threats

The first incident occurred on November 22, when Anderson allegedly made threats to “impale” and “disembowel” a candidate. On December 6, he allegedly threatened to “blow” the “head off”‌ of another candidate and carry out a “mass shooting.”

The most recent incident took⁢ place on December 8, with Anderson‌ allegedly threatening to “blow” the “brains out” of a third candidate and harm everyone present at a campaign event.

While the Department of Justice has not disclosed⁣ the specific targets of the threats, GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy confirmed that the December 8 threats were directed at ⁤his campaign.

Increasing Threats

Attorney General Merrick Garland expressed concern over the rise in threats of violence towards candidates across the country. ‍In a press statement, he emphasized that such illegal threats undermine the functioning of democracy and will not be tolerated.

Garland stated,​ “We will not tolerate illegal threats of⁤ violence directed at public‍ officials or ‍those seeking public office.”

Anderson was released from jail on December ‌14 under certain conditions, and a federal district court judge‌ will determine his sentence. If convicted, he ⁣could face up ​to five years in prison,‌ up to ⁣three⁢ years of ​supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
