Walt Disney World is reportedly set to make its largest expansion ever at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park in Orlando following the company’s decision to drop its lawsuit against the state-appointed board that governs the park.

“It’s probably the largest expansion ever at Magic Kingdom,” said Michael Hundgen, Walt Disney World site portfolio executive, during a rare media event on Tuesday, according to CNN.

Hundgen indicated that the expansion will be 14 acres, roughly the size of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, the report said. He did not give details about what specifically was being added through the expansion.

The expansion is just part of a $60 billion investment that Disney has planned for its various assets and properties.

“As I looked at the returns on the invested capital that we made in this business over the 15 years prior to my coming back, it was extraordinarily compelling,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “We should allocate in a direction where we had great returns.”

Disney dropped its lawsuit last week against the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the new governing board that was appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The company opted to settle with the state instead.

The governor responded to news on Thursday that Disney was moving forward with its expansion plans by posting on X: “Not quite what the media/left/corporate GOP were predicting last year…”

Iger said the settlement “will actually enable us to pursue the kind of significant investment in our Florida parks” that the company wants to pursue, calling it a “win-win.”

Disney’s announcement that it was going through with the largest expansion ever in its history is just the latest win for DeSantis. Other recent major wins include putting an end to squatters in the state; his congressional map, which played a major role in Republicans gaining control of the House of Representatives, winning in federal court; and more.
