Devin Nunes says Truth Social Isn’t Intimidated by Elon Musk and Twiter
The man running former President Donald Trump’s social network is promising big things at a time when Truth Social appears to be in dire straits.
Devin Nunes, the congressman who left office to become the CEO of the Trump Media & Technology Group, talked up his nascent app while downplaying the significance of billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk buying the largest stake in Twitter and joining its board.
Nunes said on Tuesday that Musk “supposedly” wants to “reopen free speech” on Twitter but knocked the Tesla CEO for “going to a platform that is full of thousands of people that clearly don’t like Republicans and are very hardcore left-wing.”
The interview, which took place on the Just The News — Not Noise show with hosts John Solomon and Amanda Head, happened after Twitter reported that there are no plans to reinstate Trump, who was banned after the Capitol riot, even as Musk tweeted that he is eager to work with the company to “make significant improvements” in the coming months.

Nunes promised Truth Social will be “the home” for all those who have been barred from Twitter. “I don’t foresee much changing at Twitter,” he said, adding that what people are witnessing now is “nice window dressing” to cover for “social media tech tyrants.”
Truth Social has been beset by troubling reports in recent days, including a buddy rollout and revelations that multiple executives have quit, investors are pulling out, and sign-ups have dropped 93% since going live on Presidents’ Day. Trump himself has yet to post more than once on the social network since its launch, and access has also been limited by its exclusivity to the Apple App Store.

Nunes did not address any of the hardships Truth Social may be facing — though he did insist the app is “already getting massive engagement by the users that we’ve let on so far” — and he spoke optimistically about what is ahead.
“I think quickly here, we’re moving faster and faster towards being able to bring everybody on the platform, and then also we’re going to have the web application open soon. And in addition to that, I think we’re making some progress possibly on the Google Play store. We’ll see. There could be new news with that soon,” he said.
