DeSantis pledges to tackle illegal and legal migration to U.S.

Republican Candidate Ron DeSantis Vows to Tackle Immigration

In a recent op-ed published ⁢in USA Today, Republican⁤ presidential candidate Ron DeSantis outlined his plan to strengthen the‍ American economy and address the issue of immigration. As governor⁣ of ‍Florida, DeSantis‌ has already taken significant steps‍ to combat illegal immigration, signing into law the toughest crackdown on illegal‍ immigration in the⁢ country.

“I will create‌ a fair labor market ⁢by securing the border, enforcing our laws, eliminating chain migration and ‍the ‌diversity visa lottery, and limiting low-skill immigration,” DeSantis wrote.

DeSantis has made immigration⁢ and border security a top priority on‍ his campaign trail. He has pledged⁤ to stop the flow ‍of‍ illegal immigrants into the⁤ U.S., build a border wall, dismantle Mexican cartels,⁢ and ensure that states are cooperating with federal immigration officials.

His tough stance on immigration aligns closely with former President Donald Trump, who remains the frontrunner for the ⁣GOP nomination. DeSantis’ policies have ‌garnered support from many Republican candidates, ⁤who share his commitment to securing the border and enforcing immigration laws.

However, there ‌is ⁤one notable exception ‍among ⁤the candidates. Vivek ⁢Ramaswamy has called for increasing the number of skilled migrants‍ entering the U.S. each year, believing‌ it to be crucial for economic growth. Ramaswamy also⁤ advocates for re-entering the Trans-Pacific ⁣Partnership, a move that Trump opposed due to its⁤ perceived negative ‍impact on American workers.

“‘Merit-based immigration’ refers mostly to the ‍inflow of foreign graduates into the well-paid white-collar careers needed by American graduates,” according to Breitbart News. “Many polls⁣ show that Americans — especially GOP voters ⁤— are increasingly outspoken⁢ against both legal immigration and illegal migration that ‌is used to shift vast wealth from middle-class families to business leaders and coastal investors.”

These‍ populist ‍attitudes, which prioritize‌ the economic well-being of American workers, played a ⁤significant role in Trump’s victory in the 2016 election. ‍They reflect a growing sentiment among GOP voters who are concerned about the impact of immigration on ⁣job opportunities‌ and ⁢income inequality.

As the race for the Republican‌ nomination heats up, immigration will undoubtedly remain a key issue. ‍DeSantis’ strong stance on securing the border and enforcing immigration laws has⁢ resonated with many voters, positioning him as a leading⁢ candidate in the field.
