DeSantis criticizes GOP senators for yielding to Biden on border agreement: ‘I’m tired of Republicans

Gov. Ron DeSantis Criticizes Senate Republicans for Caving to Democrats

In a fiery speech at his campaign offices in West Des Moines, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) slammed Senate Republicans for their approach⁢ to border security and ⁤aid for Ukraine and Israel. He ‍accused them of “basically caving on everything to the Democrats.”

“I’m sick‌ of Republicans, you see what they are doing right now in Washington with these senators⁢ doing some border agreement, which is basically caving ⁣on everything to the Democrats,”

DeSantis, who is endorsed by⁣ Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), expressed⁣ frustration with Republicans repeatedly⁣ losing to Democrats. He criticized⁢ their budget ⁣deals and failure to deliver on promises such as⁤ the border ‍wall.

“These guys get beat by the Democrats time and time again. ⁢They’ve got a majority in the‌ House, and [Rep. Chip Roy] and some of these other guys are⁣ fighting, but‍ they are doing budget deals to⁣ cave to the Democrats,”

As negotiations continue ⁣on legislation to address unlawful border crossings, DeSantis is positioning himself as a staunch conservative, even ⁤further to the⁤ right than former President Donald Trump.

DeSantis’s comments come in‌ the midst of a budget deal between House Speaker⁤ Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY),‍ which remains intact despite pressure from conservative Republicans to⁤ withdraw from the agreement.

With the Iowa⁣ caucuses approaching, DeSantis is making a strong push in the state, although recent⁣ polls show‌ United Nations Ambassador⁢ Nikki Haley⁢ leading the pack with 20% support compared to DeSantis’s 13%. Trump ‌continues ⁢to hold a commanding⁣ lead with 54%⁤ support.
