DeSantis criticizes Maher for stolen election claims: ‘Not a unique occurrence’
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Slams Bill Maher for Election Claims
In a fiery interview, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida didn’t hold back when responding to Bill Maher’s criticism of Republicans who questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election. DeSantis, appearing on “Real Time,” defended his record as governor and his presidential campaign.
Maher brought up DeSantis’ support for Republicans who were labeled as “election deniers,” which sparked a heated exchange. DeSantis quickly pointed out that Maher’s own allies in Hollywood had made similar claims in 2016, accusing Russia of stealing the election.
DeSantis didn’t stop there. He called out Kari Lake, who had attacked him since his presidential campaign announcement, despite previously praising him. DeSantis highlighted Lake’s false claims about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing that she was now spreading misinformation.
When Maher questioned DeSantis about campaigning for Republicans who denied Trump’s loss, DeSantis defended his decision, stating that his priority was to see Republicans win key races. Maher challenged him, asking if this wasn’t a threat to democracy. DeSantis fired back, reminding Maher of the hypocrisy displayed by his Hollywood friends in 2016.
