DeSantis criticizes lawmakers probing Florida’s race curriculum.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Fires Back Against ‌Critics of Florida’s New Black History Curriculum

Gov.⁤ Ron DeSantis ⁢(R-FL) has strongly responded to‍ lawmakers calling for an investigation into Florida’s recently implemented black history curriculum, which is being championed by the Congressional Black Caucus.

“This is just the latest ‌— and absurd — example of the weaponization of the federal ‌government,” DeSantis stated ‌on Saturday.

Push for Investigation

Several ⁣members of the ‌Congressional Black Caucus have urged the White House, Justice Department, and Department of Education to examine‍ whether Florida’s curriculum violates discrimination laws. Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV) revealed that he met with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to discuss potential legal⁤ strategies, although no‍ specific details were disclosed.

“Standing up against the lies spread ⁢by people like Kamala Harris is the right thing to do. We will defend Florida and ⁤firmly oppose false, politically-driven narratives,” DeSantis emphasized. “As President, I will ⁣put an end to the weaponization of government and hold partisan bureaucrats accountable for their abuse‍ of power.”

Feud with Vice President Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala⁣ Harris and Governor DeSantis have been engaged in ⁢a heated dispute over Florida’s new black history curriculum, which has been endorsed by ⁢the‍ governor.

The Florida Board of Education unanimously voted to update‌ the standards for teaching black ‍history, including lessons on how enslaved individuals benefited from the skills they acquired.

DeSantis took another⁣ swipe⁤ at Harris during his speech at the Iowa GOP’s annual Lincoln Dinner, accusing her of promoting a “phony narrative” about Florida’s education ⁣standards.

“Vice President Harris has to resort to lying about Florida’s educational standards in order to cover up their agenda of indoctrinating students‍ and pushing inappropriate topics onto children,” DeSantis asserted.
