DeSantis criticizes climate alarmists, calls their claim of stopping hurricanes with leftist policies a falsehood.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Slams Left-Wing Climate Alarmists
During a press conference on Sunday, Governor Ron DeSantis criticized left-wing climate alarmists for using Hurricane Idalia to push their policy agenda. He provided an update on the recovery operations in Florida, following President Joe Biden’s visit to the state on Saturday.
President Biden had declared that the impact of the climate crisis cannot be denied by anyone intelligent. However, DeSantis countered this by referencing past storms that hit Florida over a century ago, which followed a similar path and had destructive wind speeds of around 125 mph.
“The notion that hurricanes are something new is false,” DeSantis stated. “We must stop politicizing the weather and natural disasters. History shows that Florida has experienced significant hurricanes in the past, such as in the late ’40s and early ’50s.”
DeSantis emphasized the need for perspective and criticized the idea that adopting left-wing policies at the federal level would prevent hurricanes. He called it a lie and accused those using different types of storms as a pretext to advance their agenda on the backs of suffering people.
