Florida Governor Takes a Stand Against the “Woke” Movement
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is not afraid to challenge the leftist social groups leading the “woke” movement. In fact, he has been pushing for legislation in his state to combat this cultural revolution initiated by the left.
During his recent speech at the Republican Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual gathering, Mr. DeSantis expressed his concerns about the erosion of cultural Marxism across the United States.
“The left is lighting the fire of a cultural revolution all across this land. The fire smolders in our schools, it smolders in corporate boardrooms, it smolders in the halls of government. We are told that we must accept that men can get pregnant,” he stated.
“As President of the United States, I will lead the effort to extinguish the fire of cultural Marxism once and for all, all across this country. We will restore sanity to this nation. We will return normalcy to our communities, and we will reinstate integrity across institutions.”
Marxism, the originator of communism, has permeated all areas of the world. It suppresses people through extreme violence and destroys moral concepts and beliefs in God. In the West, it attempts to change people’s perception of family and ethics, confusing the entire society.
Bills to Protect Children
Mr. DeSantis also spoke about the importance of protecting children from gender ideology in schools. He believes it is inappropriate for teachers to tell young children that their gender is a choice.
Last March, he signed an education bill banning any classroom indoctrination on sexual orientation and gender awareness for students in kindergarten through third grade.
Despite criticism from LGBTQ groups and some schoolteachers, Florida officials did not back down. They expanded the bill to cover all grades in elementary, middle, and high schools.
Florida has also taken action to stop the use of puberty blockers and gender surgeries for minors. Mr. DeSantis firmly believes that such treatments are mutilation and have no place in a free society.
Fighting Communist Erosion
In addition to protecting children, Mr. DeSantis is determined to eliminate the pernicious influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He recently signed three bills to counter this threat.
One of the bills prohibits Chinese communist agencies, businesses, and citizens from owning land in Florida. Another bill restricts the use of foreign social media applications, including TikTok, on state government equipment. The third bill prohibits state universities and colleges from receiving funding or participating in partnerships with foreign institutions.
“Florida is taking action to stand against the United States’ greatest geopolitical threat—the Chinese Communist Party,” Mr. DeSantis declared.
“I’m proud to sign this legislation to stop the purchase of our farmland and land near our military bases and critical infrastructure by Chinese agents, to stop sensitive digital information from being accessed by foreign entities, and to protect our educational institutions from undue influence.”
