DeSantis vows to take on the ‘deep state’ aggressively from the beginning.
Gov. Ron DeSantis Takes a Bold Stand in New Hampshire
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) didn’t hold back during his recent campaign swing in New Hampshire. With a tough candidate persona, DeSantis made some strong statements that caught everyone’s attention.
“We’re going to have all of these deep state people, you know, we are going to start slitting throats on day one,”
DeSantis didn’t stop there. He also declared that, as president, Mexican drug cartels were going to be “shot stone-cold dead.”
A Campaign Reset and a Bold Plan
DeSantis made these remarks at a barbecue campaign event hosted by former Sen. Scott Brown. The governor is currently in the midst of a campaign reset, as his campaign has faced financial problems in recent weeks.
On Monday, DeSantis unveiled a “Declaration of Economic Independence,” a 10-point plan in New Hampshire. This plan focuses on helping the middle class and small businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, among other important actions.
However, not everyone was on board with DeSantis’s use of violent rhetoric. Olivia Troye, a former Homeland Security and counterterrorism adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence, criticized DeSantis, comparing him to former President Donald Trump.
“No different than Trump… except he’s got the personality of a doormat. Slitting throats of federal employees on day one? Is that a threat, DeSantis? This is atrocious,”
Despite the controversy, Trump remains the front-runner in the race, with DeSantis trailing far behind in second place. Former Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh also expressed his disapproval of DeSantis’s remarks.
“Who says something like that? He said something like that. He really said it. Look, I know cruelty sells in my former world of the right, but this is… this is such a bad thing to say.”
DeSantis also took the opportunity to express his opposition to ”woke” ideology, a stance he has championed in Florida and throughout his presidential campaign.
“We’re going to ensure the ‘woke’ agenda ends up in the dustbin of history,”
DeSantis faces an uphill battle in his quest to secure the Republican presidential nomination, as Trump’s poll numbers continue to rise while DeSantis’s decline. Nevertheless, DeSantis remains determined to make his mark on the campaign trail.
