DeSantis: I’ll order military to stop cartel crossing border wall.
Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis vows to protect the border
In a recent interview, Ron DeSantis, the Republican presidential candidate, made a bold statement regarding border security. If elected as the next President of the United States, DeSantis plans to take decisive action against cartel operatives attempting to breach the southern border wall.
During an interview with CBS News host Norah O’Donnell on “CBS Evening News,” DeSantis expressed his determination to defend the country. He recounted witnessing engineers repairing sections of the border wall in Arizona that had been cut through by cartels.
DeSantis emphasized that when cartel operatives are observed trying to destroy sections of the border wall, the military will be authorized to use deadly force to prevent it. However, he also acknowledged the need to establish protocols and rules of engagement to ensure the appropriate use of force.
While DeSantis clarified that individuals who are not cartel members, such as women with babies, would not be targeted, he emphasized the importance of taking action against those displaying hostile intent. He believes that a few instances of the military using deadly force would force the cartels to reconsider their tactics.

DeSantis acknowledged that the specific tactics employed by the military within Mexico to combat the cartels can be subject to debate. Flexibility in deploying assets would likely be necessary to effectively address the issue.
He highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating that the cartels are not only overwhelming the border but also engaging in sex trafficking, human trafficking, and drug smuggling. DeSantis firmly believes that action must be taken to protect the country from this invasion.
