DeSantis lags Trump in gaining women’s support: Poll.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Losing Ground with Female Voters, Trump ⁣Maintains Lead

Recent⁣ polling ‌indicates that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is facing a decline in popularity among national female voters, while former President Donald ‍Trump continues to dominate‍ the Republican primary race. According to a survey conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson⁤ University,⁢ DeSantis currently ⁤holds only 11% support among women, while Trump leads with an⁤ impressive 52% despite his ongoing legal battles and potential indictment.

Other Contenders Struggling to Catch ‌Up

Trailing behind the top two candidates are former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ‍with 6%‍ female support, followed by former Vice President Mike ⁣Pence at 5%. The only female candidate in the crowded Republican race, former U.N.⁤ Ambassador Nikki Haley, garners ⁣3% support among women.⁢ Notably, GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ⁢has seen a surge in the polls, securing 3% of female support. However, five other candidates⁤ fall below the 3% mark, and 16% of women voters remain undecided.

“Right ‍now, visibility is the name of the game in the Republican⁣ primary. Candidates can’t break out unless they can get media coverage, and Trump is sucking all of the air out of⁢ the room,” said Dan Cassino, the director ⁢of ⁢the poll and a professor of government and politics at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Despite facing multiple indictments and‌ ongoing investigations, Trump’s popularity ⁤among women remains strong. Recent polling⁤ from the Daily Mail reveals that the former president maintains‍ a significant lead over Gov. DeSantis in key battleground states.

DeSantis’s Unfavorable Stance on Abortion

One possible factor contributing to DeSantis’s declining favorability among women is ‍his stringent abortion⁤ policies. In April, he signed into law one of the nation’s toughest abortion bans, which has sparked significant opposition. A University of North Florida ‍poll conducted around the⁢ same time showed that 75% of voters, including 61% of Republican voters, either “somewhat”‌ or “strongly ⁤opposed” a six-week ban.
