Democratic Congressman Carjacked in D.C. While Parking His Vehicle
Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas experienced a terrifying ordeal on Monday when he was carjacked at gunpoint in a neighborhood known for its high crime rates. The incident occurred at 9:32 p.m. in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, according to U.S. Capitol Police.
Cuellar’s office released a statement saying, “As Congressman Cuellar was parking his car this evening, 3 armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle. Luckily, he was not harmed and is working with local law enforcement. Thank you to Metro PD and Capitol Police for their swift action and for recovering the Congressman’s vehicle.”
The carjacking took place near a residence occupied by multiple members of Congress, adding to the concern over the safety of lawmakers in the area.
Carjackings in D.C. have seen a staggering 115 percent increase this year, with 753 incidents reported so far, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Residents Express Concerns About Crime
Residents of the Navy Yard area have long expressed their concerns about the rising crime rates. One resident described the situation as “insane” and “complete chaos, lawlessness.” Fear of retribution has prevented residents from providing their names when discussing the issue.
According to police data, guns were used in 75 percent of carjacking incidents, and only 113 arrests have been made. Shockingly, 65 percent of the carjackings were committed by juveniles.
Cuellar’s car was eventually found about two miles away from where it was taken.
Glad to hear Congressman Henry Cuellar is safe. I hope he learns from this carjacking experience and uses it to push his party to reject Soros prosecutors, reject the no bail lunacy, reject defund police stupidity and embrace law and order. America needs a SERIOUS crime crackdown!

These alarming crime rates are not limited to carjackings. Violent crimes in D.C. have increased by 39 percent, with robberies up 68 percent and homicides up 38 percent. Motor vehicle theft has seen a staggering 106 percent increase.
This incident marks the second assault on a member of Congress this year, highlighting the need for increased security measures. In February, Democratic Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota was attacked at her apartment building, and in March, a staffer of Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was stabbed on a D.C. street.
