Democrat Juliana Stratton gets direct in Illinois Senate ad: ‘F*** Trump’
Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton isn’t mincing words in the first TV ad of her Senate campaign as she battles for the Democratic nomination for the open seat.
In the 30-second spot released Thursday, those that the Stratton campaign called “real Illinoisans,” including Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), repeatedly say “f*** Trump.”
“They said it, not me,” Stratton says. “I’m not scared of a wannabe dictator. I’m running for Senate to stand up to Donald Trump.”
Stratton, 60, vowed to “abolish” Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as “hold Trump accountable for the crimes he’s committed.” The ad includes a brief appearance by Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL), who’s supporting Stratton, but he avoids the expletives.
“Vote Juliana,” Pritzker says.
Stratton is facing several Democratic contenders in the primary to replace retiring 81-year-old Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), the second-ranked Senate Democrat as minority whip. Challengers include Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), 52, and Robin Kelly (D-IL), 69.
The race is a safe Democratic seat, but the primary is among the more contested for Democrats in the 2026 election cycle.

Stratton’s ad will run on TV in the state through the primary on March 17.
“She knows what it takes to go toe to toe with Donald Trump, because she’s done it here in Illinois,” Stratton campaign spokeswoman Allison Janowski said. “Illinoisans deserve a senator who won’t back down when our rights and freedoms are under threat, and Juliana Stratton is that leader.”
