The mayor of a Chicago suburb is in the spotlight for her absurd expenditures on the taxpayers dime.
Self-proclaimed “super mayor” Tiffany Henyard (D-Ill.) has garnered national attention after spending taxpayer dollars on a luxury trip to Las Vegas.
Henyard was elected to serve as the mayor of Dolton, Illinois in 2021. The city is a small Chicago suburb with over 20,000 residents.
The Democrat’s outrageous antics have made headlines in local outlets, but have only recently gained the national spotlight.
Such antics include using taxpayer dollars for a luxury trip to Las Vegas, to film music videos, hire DJs for town meetings, taking cops off the streets for her own security detail and placing billboards with her face all over the Chicago suburb.
Charges for Las Vegas included $3,741 for a first-class round trip flight, $8,400 for hotels, $587 at Ruth’s Chris Steak House and $400 at Hot N’ Juicy Crawfish.
Many have compared the mayor to a real-life episode of Parks and Recreation.
Additionally, the Democrat also serves as the Supervisor of Thorton Township.
She received $285,000 last year for both positions, but a recent legislation Henyard pushed through would cut that salary by nearly 90% if she isn’t re-elected.
Henyard also has no shame in self-promotion. Her face can be seen all over Dolton, even on billboards advertising senior services or fresh produce.
Trustees in the Village of Dolton are growing tired of Henyard.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, Brittney Norwood, a trustee in the Village of Dolton, said she feels as if she’s under a dictatorship.
“She manipulates the situation by telling the residents that we don’t want them to have the services,” Norwood said. “The truth of the matter is that she spends so much that we don’t have the money for the services.”

The Mayor of a Suburb in Chicago Faces Criticism for Extravagant Spending
The mayor of Dolton, a small suburb of Chicago, has come under fire for her extravagant spending using taxpayer money. Tiffany Henyard, a self-proclaimed “super mayor” from the Democratic Party, has gained national attention for her questionable use of public funds.
Henyard was elected as mayor of Dolton in 2021, a city with a population of over 20,000 residents. While her outrageous antics have previously made headlines in local outlets, they have now caught the national spotlight.
One of the most shocking expenditures was Henyard’s luxury trip to Las Vegas, fully funded by taxpayer dollars. Charges for this trip included a first-class round trip flight costing $3,741, hotels amounting to $8,400, a meal at Ruth’s Chris Steak House totaling $587, and another meal at Hot N’ Juicy Crawfish costing $400.
In addition to her lavish trip, Henyard has been criticized for other questionable spending. She has reportedly used taxpayer money to film music videos, hire DJs for town meetings, and even divert police officers from their duties to serve as her personal security detail. Furthermore, billboards featuring her face have been placed throughout the suburb, promoting her self-promotion.
Henyard’s actions have drawn comparisons to the fictional TV show “Parks and Recreation,” known for its comedic portrayal of government officials in small towns. Her behavior has sparked outrage among taxpayers, who believe their hard-earned money should be spent on essential services rather than the mayor’s personal indulgence.
Beyond her role as mayor, Henyard also serves as the Supervisor of Thorton Township. She received a combined salary of $285,000 for both positions last year. However, a recent legislation she advocated for could potentially reduce her salary by nearly 90% if she fails to secure re-election.
The trustees in the Village of Dolton have expressed frustration with Henyard’s conduct. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Brittney Norwood, a trustee in the village, described her experience under Henyard’s leadership as feeling like a dictatorship. Norwood explained that Henyard manipulates the situation by claiming there isn’t enough money for services, despite her excessive spending.
It is clear that Henyard’s actions have raised serious concerns among residents and local officials. The trust placed in elected officials to manage taxpayers’ money responsibly and prioritize community needs is essential. Henyard’s extravagant spending undermines that trust and highlights the need for greater accountability and transparency in public office.
As this issue gains national attention, it is crucial for citizens to stay informed and engaged. Only by demanding accountability and actively participating in the political process can communities ensure that their resources are used wisely and for the benefit of all.
