Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) Faces Backlash Over False Tweet on Michael Brown’s Death
On the ninth anniversary of Michael Brown’s attack on a police officer, Rep. Cori Bush sparked controversy with a tweet that spread false information and fueled inflammatory rhetoric.
“Today is the 9th anniversary of Mike Brown’s killing,” Bush said. “He would be alive today if the institutions of racism and white supremacy were eradicated. He should be alive today. We will never forget. We will continue to fight for justice and accountability.”
Former President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ) conducted an investigation into the incident and concluded that there was no credible evidence to dispute the account of Missouri Police Officer Darren Wilson. Wilson claimed that he shot Brown in self-defense after Brown attacked him while he was seated in his police vehicle. The encounter occurred after Wilson responded to reports of Brown stealing from a store and assaulting a store clerk.
The DOJ report stated, “Brown’s DNA inside the SUV and on Wilson’s shirt collar and the bullet trajectory and close-range gunshot wound to Brown’s hand, establish that Brown’s arms and/or torso were inside the SUV.” It is important to note that Brown was 6’5” and weighed nearly 300 pounds.
According to the report, several witnesses confirmed that Brown posed a physical threat to Wilson as he moved towards him. The report also highlighted that Wilson fired at Brown in what appeared to be self-defense and ceased firing once Brown fell to the ground.
Radio host Dana Loesch responded to Bush’s tweet, stating, “He would be alive today if he had not chosen to steal from a convenience store, resulting in the owner calling the police, which led to the police stopping him. At that point, Brown chose to attack a cop and try to take his gun — a conclusion reached by Eric Holder’s own DOJ in its forensics report. Stop your shameful and racist rewrite of facts.”

“This only goes to show how the Left plays the long game,” said Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh. “The whole Michael Brown narrative has been definitively exposed as a hoax, but they will keep repeating it year after year until we get tired of correcting it and the truth is forgotten by history.”
