Country star speaks out for the first time since husband’s tragic suicide in February.
Country Singer Kellie Pickler Breaks Her Silence After Tragic Loss
Country singer Kellie Pickler has finally spoken out following the devastating death of her husband, Kyle Jacobs, who tragically took his own life on February 17, 2023.
Jacobs, a talented musician and songwriter, was only 49 years old at the time of his passing. Until now, Pickler, 37, had chosen to remain silent about the heartbreaking event. However, in an exclusive statement given to PEOPLE Magazine on Thursday, she opened up about her personal feelings and shared details about a memorial service for her late husband.
“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,’” she revealed, shedding light on her prolonged silence. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”
Pickler expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the friends, family members, and fans who have reached out to her in the months since Jacobs’ passing.
“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way. It has truly touched my soul and is helping me navigate through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers,” she expressed.
The former “American Idol” alum then shared her plans to hold an “intimate memorial” for her beloved husband, likely scheduled for this fall. “That is what Kyle would have wanted,” she added.

According to previous reports, on the morning of February 17, 2023, Nashville’s Department of Emergency Communications received a distress call. Pickler had woken up that day and, unable to locate Jacobs and finding a locked door in their shared home, her personal assistant made the call. When the police arrived, they discovered Jacobs had tragically passed away.
Authorities later revealed that the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
