Cory Mills claims Biden’s policies fueled Hamas attack on Israel.
Republicans Accuse Hamas of Using Unfrozen Funds for Attacks
Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) strongly criticized President Joe Biden for his policies that have fueled the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Mills emphasized that Israel will have to respond with tremendous force to defend itself.
Multiple Republicans, including potential 2024 presidential candidates, have alleged that Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group, used funds from the recently unfrozen $6 billion of Iranian oil revenue to carry out attacks. The Israeli military has confirmed that Hamas is holding soldiers and civilians hostage following a surprise attack.
A spokeswoman for the White House’s National Security Council, Adrienne Watson, denied these accusations, stating on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the unfrozen funds have nothing to do with the recent attacks and that spreading disinformation is inappropriate at this time.
Mills dismissed the White House’s response, pointing out that the President of Iran himself stated on Twitter that he would use the $6 billion as he sees fit. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi confirmed that his government will determine how to spend the unfrozen funds, stating that it will be used wherever they need it.
Mills highlighted the historical pattern of releasing funds to Iran, the largest state sponsor of terror, resulting in continued attacks by proxy militias in the region. He expressed concerns about Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group led by Hassan Nasrallah, mobilizing forces, and the potential organization of Iranian proxy militias from Syria.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war in response to the deadly attacks. Mills commended Netanyahu’s swift declaration and stressed the need for a strong and violent counter-offensive against Hamas targets in and around Gaza.
Mills emphasized the importance of a strong condemnation of Hamas from the United States and moral support for Israel as they fight to push Hamas out of their territory.
Hamas has claimed responsibility for firing over 5,000 rockets into Israel during the ongoing attacks. Mills described these attacks as the largest terrorist attack against Israel in recent history, comparing it to their 9/11, and criticized the failure in intelligence collection and readiness.
Mills warned that how President Biden responds to Hamas’s attack will significantly impact how the world views the United States. He highlighted the threat posed by alliances such as BRICS, which includes China, Russia, Brazil, India, and South Africa, and emphasized the need for the U.S. to maintain strength to deter aggression.
“We have to be more cognizant that our domestic and foreign policies are intrinsically linked, and how we are viewed on the world stage will determine how our allies stand with us, how developing nations view us, and how our adversaries fear us,” Mills concluded.

How do Republicans argue that the Biden administration’s approach to foreign policy has emboldened extremist groups like Hamas
Esident Ebrahim Raisi’s tweet, which was posted shortly before the attacks took place, raised concerns among Republicans about the use of unfrozen funds for malicious purposes.
Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark) called for a thorough investigation into the allegations, stating that it is crucial to determine the source of Hamas’ funding and hold them accountable for their actions. He argued that unfreezing Iranian funds without proper safeguards in place was a reckless decision that has now potentially endangered innocent lives.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been ongoing for decades, with both sides experiencing a high number of casualties. However, the recent escalation of violence has raised new concerns about the role of external actors in fueling the conflict.
Republicans argue that the Biden administration’s approach to foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East, has emboldened extremist groups like Hamas. They believe that the decision to engage in negotiations and unfreeze Iranian funds without clear conditions and accountability measures in place has given Hamas an opportunity to fund its attacks and harm innocent civilians.
On the other hand, supporters of the Biden administration argue that the unfreezing of funds was part of a broader diplomatic effort to revive the Iran nuclear deal and engage in dialogue with Iran. They maintain that it is unfair and premature to blame the current administration for the actions of Hamas and the ongoing violence in the region.
While the accusations made by Republicans are serious, it is important to wait for a thorough investigation before drawing any conclusions. The international community, including the United States, should work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict and ensure that all parties involved are held accountable for their actions.
In the meantime, it is crucial for the Biden administration to reassess its approach to the Middle East and take into account the concerns raised by Republicans. The safety and security of both Israelis and Palestinians should be a priority for the United States, and any policies or actions that could potentially escalate the conflict should be reconsidered.
The accusations made by Republicans against Hamas are a reminder of the complex nature of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. It is crucial for all parties involved, including the international community, to work towards a lasting and peaceful solution that respects the rights and security of both Israelis and Palestinians.
