” Death School” Guide in Florida Middle Schools: Traditional Group Concerns

Citizens Defending Freedom is a graphic novel called” Assassination Classroom” that features graphic images of scholars killing their teachers, sexually explicit material, and vocabulary that is age-appropriate.

TAMPA, Fla. – Citizens Defending Freedom announced Monday that its members will challenge a violent and sexually explicit graphic novel that is found in Florida middle schools, which the organization says is inappropriate for children in that age group.

Yusei Matsui, a well-known graphic writer, is the author of the book” Assassination Classroom.” The graphic novel’s’s premise is that a group of students who perform poorly and are referred to as” misfits” are given the task of defending planet Earth from an alien threat that could endanger human life. They are referred to as” heroes” because part of that responsibility is to kill their teacher.

Members of Citizens Defending Freedom analyzed the book and found that it” contains expressed violence, light profanity, and graphic sexual activities.”

One instance in the book, for instance, shows a group of students brandishing weapons at their instructor, who appears to be an alien. Many representations feature students brandishing weapons while yelling” Have READY” and” F – I-I-R-E.”

One student claims,” ALL THOSE BULLETS … AND WE MISSED !” after firing a hail of bullets at the teacher but failing to kill him. While two other individuals respond,” OUR TEACHER ,”” WE’RE ASSASSINS, AND OUR Goal IS.”

The book is rated as” Minor Restricted” by BookLooks Review.

Additionally, the guide includes sexually explicit pictures.

Female characters are depicted wearing lingerie and bikinis, along with several allusions to” boobs ,” including one graphic with a photo that is only partially visible on breasts. The book already makes a number of allusions to sexual publications.

According to Florida State Director Sarah Calamunci,” This is yet another instance of age-appropriate plastic in our children’s’s school.” After reading this graphic novel in-depth, we are at a loss as to what education purpose” Assassination Classroom” may possibly deliver.” Citizens Defending Freedom” has no issues with books that serve fair educational purposes.

The National Communications Director of Citizens Defending Freedom, Kristen Huber, stated that” this is a non-partisan problem.” We should all be able to agree that school shouldn’t glorify or promote violence against teachers or explicit sexual content, particularly with tax money.

The Hillsborough County chapter of Citizens Defending Freedom late spearheaded the effort to get rid of the sexual book” This Book is Gay” from county school systems’ middle school libraries.

In order for parents to be aware of what their children are exposed to in the classroom, the group’s’s affiliates are working tirelessly to shed light on age-appropriate content in schools across the nation and are advocating for clarity in American educational programs.
