Joe Concha says people can say ‘merry Christmas’ again under Trump

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha said Christmas shouldn’t be political because it is a holiday that brings people together.

“Being against Christmas is like being for shingles,” Concha said on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime. “There are some things that are so easy in terms of common sense [and] some things just shouldn’t be political.”

Concha said that President Donald Trump has made cultural shifts in his first 11 months in office that allow people to say “merry Christmas” again, instead of the “politically correct stuff” such as “happy holidays.”

“It’s not just the economic accomplishments of Trump that we could talk about or the foreign policy issues we could talk about or obviously what we’ve seen at the border, but it’s the cultural shifts that we’ve seen,” Concha said.

“Where people can say that they are a Trump supporter or to say ‘merry Christmas’ and that is where we are at this point, and that’s one of the accomplishments in the first 11 months of his second term,” he added.

Concha said Christmas is supposed to be a time where people come together, despite their differences, to celebrate the holiday, but that this is no longer the case due to social media

“Instead, with social media, you see the toxic stew … people just spewing hate for half the country,” Concha said. “And we saw it this year, unfortunately, with Charlie Kirk’s assassination and other things where you would say, ‘hey, that’s wrong.’”

Concha argued that people are not calling things out as “wrong,” pointing to polls that show people support Luigi Mangione for allegedly shooting UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson

“It’s a scary place right now from the left in terms of the things that they say and what they think they’re on a higher moral plane for,” he said. “And it’s just incredible.”

Concha criticized people on the left for calling Trump “authoritarian” and said that “narrative isn’t working,” pointing to Trump taking part in the NORAD Santa Claus calls with children on Christmas Eve.

GEN Z’S CHRISTIAN RESURGENCE IS WORTH CELEBRATING THIS CHRISTMAS

“I always found it interesting that the left can call him authoritarian or a fascist or Hitler, and then you see him working the drive-through at McDonald’s or wearing a garbage chute during the campaign,” Concha said

“And then you’re like ‘wait a minute, I’m pretty sure that narrative isn’t working’ when you see a guy who can be self-deprecating and do the moments we see at West Palm Beach,” he added.
