Comer says Harris testimony would be ‘helpful’ in autopen investigation

The article reports that Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, indicated that former Vice President Kamala Harris might be called too testify in the committee’s ongoing investigation into the use of an autopen device allegedly employed to sign documents on behalf of President Joe Biden. The investigation aims to determine the extent to which Biden’s physical and mental capacity might have been concealed by his management and whether autopen technology was used to act in his stead. Comer suggested that harris’s testimony could be “helpful” and hinted that a subpoena for her appearance is a strong possibility. Republicans on the committee, including Rep. Byron Donalds, have sought to question all Biden staff, including Harris and former first lady Jill Biden. Recently, several high-level Biden aides, such as Ian sams, Anita dunn, and Ron Klain, have testified as part of the probe into the president’s capacity and the autopen issue.

Comer says Harris testimony would be ‘helpful’ in autopen investigation

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman, hinted on Thursday that the committee may pursue a testimony from former Vice President Kamala Harris in its autopen investigation.

House Republicans have aimed their investigative power at the Biden administration, looking to figure out the extent, if any, to which former President Joe Biden’s physical and mental decline was covered up by his staff, and whether others acted in his stead through the use of an autopen. Comer hinted that Biden’s No. 2 could be next on the list to testify before the committee.

“I think that it would be helpful to hear from Kamala Harris. We haven’t decided whether or not we’re going to issue the subpoena or not, but certainly she’s welcome to come to the committee,” Comer told reporters.

Comer then took a more threatening tone, warning of ambiguity.

“If I were her and wanted to have a political future, I would want to set the record straight on a lot of this stuff, because it’s going to haunt her entire political career, because nobody thinks that Joe Biden was calling the shots in the end,” he said.

In a July interview with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, Comer hinted that Harris could be subpoenaed, saying the possibility was “very high.”

FORMER BIDEN AIDE IAN SAMS ARRIVES FOR HOUSE OVERSIGHT AUTOPEN INTERVIEW

Last month, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), a House Oversight Committee member, called for the committee to subpoena “ALL BIDEN STAFF,” including former first lady Jill Biden and Harris.

The latest testimony in the autopen investigation came from Ian Sams, a former White House spokesman and senior communications aide. Sams appeared before the Oversight Committee on Thursday. His appearance was the eighth of 11 scheduled interviews with high-level aides, including Anita Dunn and Ron Klain, who have appeared before committee investigators in recent weeks.
