‘Comedy Unleashed’ event canceled due to comedian’s controversial gender views.

An Upcoming Comedy Festival in Scotland Canceled ⁤Due ‌to Controversial Views

An⁢ upcoming comedy festival in Scotland has been canceled⁢ amidst controversy surrounding one of the scheduled performers. Irish comedian Graham Linehan, ⁣known for his work on the sitcom “Father Ted,” made comments expressing his belief that ⁣men cannot become women and vice versa. He also advocated for single-sex spaces‌ for women ⁤and fairness in women’s sports.

The cancellation of the “Comedy Unleashed” event in Edinburgh came ‌after critics highlighted Linehan’s past remarks about transgender individuals. ⁤The venue, Leith Arches, which frequently hosts ‌LGBT events, decided‍ to cancel the event in response to the backlash.

“We were not made aware of the lineup of this show in advance,” the venue stated. “We are an inclusive venue‍ and this does not align with our overall values.”

The venue⁢ emphasized its commitment to working closely with the LGBT+ community ⁤and expressed concerns that hosting Linehan would have ⁢a negative impact on future bookings. They clarified that the decision was not influenced by online activists but rather by their regular community.

Linehan, in response to‌ the cancellation, expressed his disappointment and requested a detailed explanation⁢ from the venue ‍regarding their decision.

“There is no explanation as ‍to what views the Leith Arches find offensive,”⁢ Linehan wrote. “That women deserve single-sex spaces and fairness in their sports? That children shouldn’t be mutilated and sterilized? That JK Rowling shouldn’t receive death and rape threats?”

Linehan later spoke to TalkTV, where he acknowledged the negative impact of the‍ cancellation but also highlighted⁢ the attention it brought to what he described as a group of highly ideological cultists who have taken over institutions across society.

When asked‌ about the views that the venue claimed would violate their space, Linehan emphasized his belief that it is a crime against humanity to tell children that they may have been born in the wrong body. He also mentioned‍ the closure of the Tavistock gender ⁤identity clinic in the U.K., which he believes supports his⁣ and J.K. Rowling’s⁢ views on ‍the matter.

Linehan concluded by stating that if a trans-identifying male were⁤ to enter the women’s bathroom with‍ his daughter, ‌he would⁤ intervene.
