CNN contributor sparks controversy by suggesting that it was not Republicans who tarnished Hunter Biden’s reputation.

CNN contributor‌ Scott Jennings sparked a heated debate⁤ among his⁣ fellow panelists during a Sunday morning segment when he boldly expressed his opinion about President Joe Biden’s embattled son, Hunter Biden.

Jennings,‌ a conservative political commentator, joined “State of the Union” guest⁤ host ⁣Kasie Hunt⁤ and Democratic strategist Michael LaRosa. When the conversation shifted to⁣ the president’s recent⁣ acknowledgment of his seventh grandchild, Jennings didn’t hold back his criticism of ⁤the Biden family.

LaRosa argued that the Bidens were “a‌ real family, just like everyone else.” Hunt quickly pointed out⁤ the fact that President Biden had ‌always presented himself⁢ as a family man first — a claim that struck⁣ a number of Americans ⁣as odd when, despite a DNA confirmation and ⁤court-ordered child support from Hunter, the ⁤president had never so much as given a⁣ nod⁢ to the four-year-old.

“It’s not Republicans, with all due respect, who made Hunter‌ Biden into a complete scumbag on ‍this and other issues. The — ignoring his own daughter, for four years! And ‌the⁢ President of the United States hanging ⁢up a stocking for ⁤the dog and not for his seventh grandchild?” Jennings ⁣said, over protest from LaRosa.

Hunt jumped‍ back in ⁢then, saying that it was important to have ⁢some consideration ‍for ‌people ⁣like Hunter.

“We can also have sympathy for people who‍ are struggling with addiction. Let’s keep this conversation respectful,” she said.

“Listen, I totally agree. And you⁣ know where I’m from a lot of families deal with addiction, and you know who‌ ends up picking up the ‌pieces? The grandparents!⁤ And in this case, the grandparents would not acknowledge this little girl,” Jennings pushed back.

“But they have now,” Hunt objected.

“Oh, what a hero! The polling must have been‍ brutal. The polling must have been brutal,” Jennings‍ replied.

President Biden finally‍ acknowledged ⁢ the existence of four-year-old Navy Joan Roberts⁢ in a ⁢memo‍ that was part of‌ a Friday afternoon news dump, ‍saying to PEOPLE ⁢Magazine, “Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working ‍together to foster a relationship that is in⁤ the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward.”

Part⁤ of “preserving her privacy”‍ and the most recent child support agreement is a clause barring the little ⁤girl — ‍who is aware that her grandfather is the President of⁢ the ⁢United States — ⁢from using the Biden name.
