Mooney’s campaign cash soars as Club for Growth criticizes ‘big government RINO’ Justice.

The Club for Growth Raises $13.55 Million to Support Alex Mooney’s Senate Bid

The conservative Club for Growth, in partnership with Protect Freedom PAC affiliated with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), has announced that they have raised an impressive $13.55 million to support Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV) in his campaign to replace Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).

The club initially pledged to spend a minimum of $10 million to back Mooney’s candidacy, but they have exceeded that goal.

Mooney: The Serious Candidate for Fiscal Responsibility

“The more West Virginia voters learn about Jim Justice, Mitch McConnell’s chosen candidate, the clearer it becomes that he is a big government RINO,” said Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh. “Alex Mooney has a strong track record of pushing back on Joe Biden’s radical policy agenda in Washington and is the only candidate in the race that is serious about promoting fiscal responsibility.”

Mooney faces competition from other Republican challengers, including Governor Jim Justice, who announced his candidacy in April after being courted by McConnell.

The announcement from the Club for Growth comes on the heels of Justice’s campaign revealing that they raised $935,035 from 5,526 individual donors, with 93% of the donors contributing less than $100.

Mooney has garnered support from conservative-leaning senators such as Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz. However, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and McConnell’s PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund, have spent months trying to persuade Justice to enter the race.

Justice Campaign Manager Praises Fundraising Success

“Gov. Justice has received tremendous support from West Virginians and those who have confidence in his leadership and conservative record of achievements in West Virginia,” said Justice campaign manager Roman Stauffer. “In only 64 days, with no prior federal fundraising experience, Gov. Justice raised nearly $1 million and continues to be the strongest Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in West Virginia.”

While the Republican contenders intensify their fight, Manchin, the centrist Democrat, has yet to announce his bid for reelection. Speculation has arisen that he may launch a third-party presidential bid with the national movement No Labels.

The movement’s honorary co-chair will be speaking at a “Common Sense town hall” at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, providing further intrigue to the political landscape.

When asked about a potential third-party bid, Manchin recently stated, “Everything is on the table. Nothing is off the table.”
