House Secures Dates For Bill and Hillary Clinton’s Epstein Testimonies After Couple Dodged Subpoenas

The House Oversight Committee has set dates for former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to testify in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation after the couple had previously dodged subpoenas and faced a potential contempt vote. Bill is scheduled for deposition on February 27, with Hillary appearing the day prior; the committee gave a noon deadline to consent to transcribed and taped depositions with no time limits, otherwise contempt proceedings would move forward. The Clintons had previously argued that the investigation was invalid and politically motivated, but their decision to participate marks a sharp reversal from January. In remarks, Rep. James Comer said the Clintons “caved” to the prospect of contempt and would testify, a move noted alongside past contempt actions against figures like Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon and predicted by some outlets to draw votes from Democrats to hold the Clintons in contempt. The Clintons’ February appearances come amid ongoing partisan debate over the probe and the scope of the subpoenas.
