House Secures Dates For Bill and Hillary Clinton’s Epstein Testimonies After Couple Dodged Subpoenas

The House Oversight committee has set deposition dates for former President Bill Clinton (Feb. 27) and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (Feb. 26) in the Jeffrey Epstein inquiry after they previously dodged subpoenas and faced a potential contempt vote. The committee gave both a noon deadline to agree to transcribed and taped depositions with no time limits, warning that noncompliance could lead to contempt of Congress. Committee Chair James Comer said the Clintons “caved” and would appear, marking a shift from their earlier stance that the probe was invalid and politically motivated. In a Jan. 13 joint letter to Comer, the Clintons argued the investigation was partisan, referencing concerns about government actions under Trump and the january 6 Capitol riot. The subpoena, issued in august, had been delayed until January, with the Clintons risking possible criminal action by the Department of Justice; previously, others who refused to testify in related cases, like Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon, received prison sentences. The report notes that Democrats might have voted to hold the Clintons in contempt, and the Clintons’ decision to participate represents a significant turn in the inquiry.
