House Secures Dates For Bill and Hillary Clinton’s Epstein Testimonies After Couple Dodged Subpoenas

The House Oversight Committee has secured deposition dates for former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Jeffrey Epstein probe after the couple had previously dodged subpoenas and faced a looming contempt vote. Bill Clinton is scheduled to testify on February 27, with Hillary Clinton testifying the day before; the panel set a noon deadline for the Clintons to agree to transcribed and taped depositions with no time limits, warning that contempt proceedings would move forward if they refused.

Committee Chairman James Comer said the Clintons “caved” once contempt was likely and would appear for depositions this month, marking a shift from January when they argued the examination was invalid and politically motivated in a joint letter to Comer. The letter invoked concerns about partisan politics and referenced actions by President Trump on immigration and the January 6 Capitol riot. The subpoena was issued in August, and the ensuing standoff included the possibility of DOJ action; in a related note, Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon were sentenced to four months in prison after being held in contempt for refusing to testify. Politico reported that Democrats were expected to vote to hold the Clintons in contempt. the Clintons’ broader stance framed the move as a fight for accountability, with them stating that now was the time to participate.
