The House Oversight Committee has scheduled deposition dates for Bill and Hillary clinton in the Jeffrey Epstein probe after thay previously dodged subpoenas. Bill Clinton is set to testify on February 27, with Hillary Clinton testifying the day before, and the committee gave a noon deadline to agree to transcribed and taped depositions with no time limits; failure to comply could lead to contempt proceedings. Committee Chairman James Comer said the Clintons “caved” once facing potential contempt, noting the House moved quickly to pursue contempt after their six-month delay. This marks a shift from January, when the Clintons argued the investigation was invalid and politically motivated in a joint letter to Comer. The letter referenced broad criticisms of the governance and the January 6 Capitol riot, arguing there was no plausible description for the inquiry other than partisan politics. The subpoenas were issued in August, and the Clintons’ delays risked criminal action by the Department of Justice; Democrats were reportedly likely to vote to hold them in contempt. The Clintons’ decision to participate represents a dramatic change from their earlier stance.
