Chuck Todd Pitches More Migrants to Somehow “Solve Inflation”

Multimillionaire Chuck Todd has never lived in the real world and he made it painfully obvious that he’s oblivious to how the economy works during Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press on NBC. During his “data download” segment, Todd promised to explain “why immigrants crossing the border could actually be a solution to our inflation problem.”

When Todd did return from the commercial break, Todd managed to dismiss Republican Governors’ concerns about the record numbers of migrants crossing the border as well as give a pseudo economics lesson on migrants and job growth.

“Over the last few weeks, Republican Governors have been shipping asylum seekers to more liberal leaning Democratic enclaves. Trying to send a message that they think migrants are a political problem for Democrats,” Todd snarked at the opening of the segment.

“But in fact the data shows us that more migrants could actually help solve one of the country’s most pressing problems,” Todd added.

Pointing to his electronic board with statistics on it, Todd claimed that “even before the pandemic, migration in the United States had been slowing,” adding that “we started the last decade at almost 700,000 migrants coming into this country in 2010. We hit a peak of just over a million in 2016,” Todd noted.

“When Donald Trump got elected, it dropped all the way down to 247,000 thanks to the pandemic. And you can see the labor force participation rate. It’s been dropping, we were at 63.4, we’re still sitting at 62.4,” Todd proclaimed.

“They’re short 45,000 workers in Boston, they’re short under 400,000 in New York. They’re short 170,000 in Washington, D.C., even Miami, is short some 20,000 there,” Todd said, seeming to suggest migrants should be sent there.

Finally making his point, the leftwing NBC host said that “these migrants could actually be helping our labor force problem, which would help our supply chain, which could help inflation.”

You read that right. According to Todd, the way to solve the forty year high inflation isn’t to stop reckless government spending, it’s to let millions of migrants continue pouring across the southern border and give them jobs.

So while Americans are losing their jobs because of the Biden induced recession, Todd’s solution is to let immigrants take their jobs. He doesn’t even get the supply and demand equation right.

Our supply chain problems are only a tiny fraction of the cause of inflation. The problem is too much money chasing too few goods.

It’s clear Todd has never had a real job in his life.

TODD: Over the last few weeks, Republican Governors have been shipping asylum seekers to more liberal leaning Democratic enclaves. Trying to send a message that they think migrants are a political problem for Democrats. But in fact the data shows us that more migrants could actually help solve one of the country’s most pressing problems. Let me show you the issue we’ve been dealing with. Even before the pandemic, migration in the United States had been slowing.

We started the last decade at almost 700,000 migrants coming into this country in 2010. We hit a peak of just over a million in 2016. When Donald Trump got elected, it dropped all the way down to 247,000 thanks to the pandemic. And you can see the labor force participation rate. It’s been dropping, we were at 63.4, we’re still sitting at 62.4.

One percentage point by the way, represents 2.6 million people missing from this workforce. And guess where these workers are missing from? They’re short 45,000 workers in Boston, they’re short under 400,000 in New York. They’re short 170,000 in Washington, D.C., even Miami, is short some 20,000 there. So the point is, these migrants could actually be helping our labor force problem, which would help our supply chain, which could help inflation.
