Christie slams Haley for avoiding confrontation with Trump: ‘She should feel ashamed

Chris Christie Slams Nikki Haley for Failing‌ to Criticize Trump

Former New‍ Jersey Governor Chris Christie ⁤ didn’t hold back in his criticism of former⁤ U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. In two interviews over the ⁢weekend, Christie expressed his disappointment with Haley’s inability to speak out against former President Donald⁢ Trump.

During his appearances on CBS‍ News’ ⁣”Face The Nation” and CNN’s “State of the Union,” Christie didn’t mince words. ‍When⁢ asked about Haley’s support for Trump, he questioned ‍her seriousness as a candidate.

“You have said Nikki Haley⁣ is not a fundamentally serious candidate when she said, as you just said earlier on in our program, that ⁣Trump is fit to lead,” the interviewer pointed out. “You said you wished that she⁤ cared more about⁤ the truth. And things ⁢she said about global trade, for example, you say, shows she doesn’t even understand what she’s talking about.”

Christie responded by highlighting‍ Haley’s refusal to rule out being ⁣Trump’s vice president,⁢ which he believes undermines her credibility as a⁤ contender against him.‍ He‌ contrasted this with his own‍ and Ron DeSantis’ clear rejection of the vice⁤ presidency from‌ Trump.

“That’s why she’s not saying strong⁢ things against Donald⁤ Trump, why she’s saying⁢ he’s fit ⁣to be President of the United States,” Christie explained. “I’m⁣ going to take Nikki ‍Haley’s word [for] it.⁢ She ‌says she believes he’s fit ‍to be president. If ⁤you⁣ believe someone who says those kind of things ‍and is ⁣under four criminal indictments is fit to ‍be president, then you can agree with her. I don’t.”

Christie’s‍ Criticism Continues

Christie didn’t stop there. During his CNN interview, he took another jab at Haley in response to‌ recent‌ controversial remarks made by Trump.

“The other problem with this is the Republicans who are saying⁤ this‍ is⁢ OK, almost 100‌ members of Congress who have endorsed him, Nikki Haley,‌ who this week said he is fit to be president,” Christie expressed. “Nikki Haley‍ should⁣ be ashamed of herself. And she’s part of the problem, because she’s enabling him. ⁢She’s enabling him by saying to people, it’s OK.”

Chris Christie’s‍ strong words against Nikki Haley have‌ sparked controversy⁤ and shed light on the divisions within‍ the Republican party.

What reasons does Christie give for questioning Nikki‌ Haley’s seriousness ‌as a candidate?

⁤ Erstand what she is talking⁣ about. Why do you ⁢think she’s‍ not a serious candidate?”

Christie responded by highlighting‌ Haley’s ⁣failure to criticize Trump’s actions and rhetoric during his presidency.

“I think that’s the most important issue,” Christie said. “When a candidate ⁢runs for office, especially ‌for⁢ president, they have⁤ to be willing‌ to‍ speak truth to power. They have to be willing to stand up and say when the leader is wrong or when they disagree with the leader’s policies. Nikki Haley has failed to do that.”

He went on to criticize Haley for her⁢ continued support⁣ of Trump even⁤ after the Capitol riot⁣ on ‌January 6th.

“After the events of January 6th, I would have expected Nikki Haley to distance herself from Trump and condemn his actions,” Christie explained. “But instead, she continues to stand⁤ by him and defend him. That shows‌ a lack of principle ⁣and a lack of ⁣courage.”

Christie also ⁤accused Haley ‌of putting her own political ambitions above doing what is right for the country.

“I⁣ believe that Nikki Haley is⁤ more interested in preserving her own political future than in doing what is best for the American people,” he ⁤said. “She sees that Trump still⁤ has a strong ‌base of support within the Republican Party, and she doesn’t want to ‍alienate that base. But⁢ true leadership requires ⁢making tough decisions, even ⁣if they are unpopular.”

Christie concluded by urging Haley to⁤ reconsider her support for Trump and to take a stand against his damaging influence on the Republican Party.

“I hope that Nikki Haley will have⁣ a change of heart and recognize that the future of our party⁣ and our country depends on standing up to Trump,” Christie ‌said. “We need ⁣leaders who are willing to put principle above politics and to ⁣speak out against those‍ who undermine our democracy.”

As the Republican Party continues to grapple with its identity post-Trump, voices like Christie’s are likely to become more prominent. While some Republicans, like Haley, continue⁣ to support Trump,⁢ others are speaking‍ out and pushing for a new direction. ‍Only time ‍will tell which path the party ultimately chooses.
