Chris Christie: Biden White House Prefers Charges Over Hur’s Report

Former New‍ Jersey Governor Chris Christie: Biden Would Have Preferred ‍Criminal Charges Over Incompetence

In a captivating interview over the weekend, former‍ New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made a bold statement about President‍ Joe⁤ Biden’s preference in the Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation. According to Christie, Biden would⁣ have‌ rather faced criminal charges than have the report declare him unfit to stand trial.

During an‍ appearance on NBC News’ “Meet ‌The Press,”‌ Christie ⁢discussed Hur’s report, which revealed‍ that Biden⁣ had knowingly retained classified material but couldn’t be charged due ⁤to his serious ⁢memory problems.

“Former⁣ Attorney ⁣General Eric‍ Holder said⁣ this about the report, ‘Way too many gratuitous remarks‍ and it’s flatly inconsistent with longstanding DOJ traditions,'”⁣ host Kristen Welker mentioned. “Did this report cross any lines for you?”

Christie responded confidently, “I don’t think so. And, look, I did this,⁣ as ⁤you know, for seven years as the⁤ U.S. attorney in the fifth-largest office⁤ in the country. The fact is they had to give the reasons why they weren’t prosecuting when you⁤ start off the report by saying‌ that he ‘willfully and knowingly ‍retained classified documents.’ Well,⁣ that’s a violation of the law.”

Continuing⁣ his explanation, Christie emphasized⁣ the prosecutor’s dilemma, saying, “So the question, then, for the prosecutor ‌is, ‘Then‍ why⁢ aren’t you ‍bringing charges?’ And he gave two reasons essentially. One was‌ President Biden’s lack of memory ‍and his condition, and secondly, was that President Biden cooperated. Once documents were discovered, he ‍let them go ‍in and do whatever they needed to do to get those documents, retrieve them, as opposed⁢ to ⁤what President⁤ Trump did.”

When asked about former‍ President Donald Trump’s claim of a ‌two-tiered justice system, Christie disagreed, stating, “No, because ⁣in‍ fact if there was a two-tiered system of justice, ‌what would have happened would have been they just would have announced that they weren’t ⁢prosecuting‍ him‌ and they⁣ wouldn’t have given any of the reasons.”

Christie then dropped a bombshell, revealing the potential impact of the report on the Biden White House. “I have ‍to tell you the⁤ truth: In one respect I think the Biden White⁣ House would have⁣ been happier ⁢if he had been charged⁤ than for that report to⁣ have come out in the midst of⁢ a reelection campaign,” ⁤he said. ‌”The⁢ fact is: When you’re questioning what 70-some percent of the American‍ people are already questioning – whether Joe Biden ⁣is too old for the job – and now you have an independent counsel, a special counsel, appointed by his own justice department, concluding⁢ that he couldn’t bring a trial for that reason, that’s much more damaging, politically, than whether people would have agreed‌ or disagreed ‌with him being charged.”

Concluding his thoughts, Christie highlighted the concerns surrounding both candidates’ ‌competence and ⁤character, stating,⁣ “And,⁢ look, in the end, ⁢this‌ is the problem.‍ Both of these candidates are people who are being questioned for their⁤ competence and being questioned for their character. And that’s‍ a problem for the American people.”

Do former Governor Christie’s⁤ remarks raise concerns about the transparency and‍ impartiality of the Special Counsel’s investigation into President Biden

Nation, Christie highlighted the significance of the⁢ report’s findings.‌ “The‍ fact that they couldn’t‌ charge him because of his memory problems, I think that’s a‌ big deal,” he asserted. “There were some gratuitous remarks in there,⁤ but I think overall, it’s consistent with the facts.”

The former governor ⁤went on to discuss Biden’s potential preference of facing criminal charges over being declared unfit to stand trial. “What I’m saying here⁢ is that I believe that if Biden had the choice between‍ the two, he would ⁤rather have faced criminal charges,” Christie stated. “Because if he’s charged, he has an opportunity to defend himself in a court of law. ‍But‍ if the report declares him⁤ unfit, that tarnishes his reputation without ⁣giving him a chance to defend ⁤himself.”

Christie’s remarks‍ shed light on an important aspect of Biden’s potential ‍dilemma. While facing criminal charges would undoubtedly ‍bring about significant challenges, such as a trial,‌ potential conviction, and ⁣legal consequences,‍ it would also allow him⁢ to present his side of the story and potentially clear his name.

However, being declared unfit to stand trial⁤ would leave Biden with no legal recourse to defend ‌himself. It would not only tarnish his reputation but also raise questions about his ability to hold the highest office in the‍ country. Such a declaration could have serious implications for Biden’s presidency and ⁤his⁢ future political career.

Christie’s statements also raise questions about the transparency‍ and impartiality of the Special Counsel’s investigation. If Biden’s preference is indeed criminal charges over being declared unfit, it begs the question of whether the investigation was truly unbiased or if it was influenced by this knowledge.

As ⁢the interview concluded, Christie reiterated the importance of the report’s findings. ‌”This is a serious‍ matter,” he emphasized. “We shouldn’t just brush it aside because of Biden’s position as President. The facts speak for themselves, and the American people deserve to know the truth.”

The statements ‌made‍ by former Governor⁣ Chris Christie regarding President Joe Biden’s potential preference for criminal charges ⁤over being ⁤declared ‌unfit are ‌thought-provoking and‍ warrant further consideration. They bring ‍to light the potential challenges Biden‍ may face in defending himself and the⁢ implications such⁣ a declaration could have on his⁢ presidency. Ultimately, these remarks underscore the need for transparency and impartiality in the investigation, ensuring that ‍the truth is revealed and justice is served.
