Chip Roy: Joe Biden, Alejandro Mayorkas Should Be Impeached Over ‘Purposeful’ Immigration Crisis

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) said on Saturday that President Joe Biden and his Homeland Security secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, should both be impeached over the ongoing crisis of illegal immigration.

“This is purposeful by @JoeBiden & @SecMayorkas – and they should both be impeached for it. #SecureBorderNow,” Roy tweeted along with a video of a caravan of migrants walking through Mexico toward the U.S. border. The migrants reportedly held Biden signs as they walked.

Thousands of Latin American migrants are currently marching through Mexico to the U.S. southern border. Estimates put the number marching as high as 5,000. The group has smashed through lines of Mexican law enforcement who attempted to stop them.

“He came into the committee that we were in three weeks ago and completely lied,” Scott asserted. “He lied to the American people. The guy has to resign.”

Border Patrol agents have arrested 1.66 million migrants attempting to enter the U.S. illegally in fiscal year 2021, according to data released last week by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The number of arrests made is the highest ever recorded in one fiscal year.

The number of arrests has only surpassed 1.6 million twice in recent decades, once in 1986 and the second time in 2000. The 1.66 million number is roughly double the peak of arrests under the Trump administration, roughly 850,000.

Former acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf hammered the Biden administration in a statement on Friday after the immigration numbers for fiscal year 2021, which began in October last year, were released.

“Instead of upholding the rule of law, the administration has chosen to open
