Celine Dion’s family hopes for a miracle during her health battle.
Celine Dion’s Health Battle: Praying for a Miracle
The world is holding its breath as Celine Dion, the iconic superstar singer, fights a rare neurological disease that has forced her to cancel the rest of her “Courage” world tour dates. Her family is rallying behind her, praying for a miracle.
In an interview with Hello! Canada, Dion’s sister, Claudette Dion, shared an update on the singer’s condition. In December, Celine was diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome (SPS), a progressive disease that leaves its victims unable to walk or talk, essentially turning them into “human statues.”
“She’s doing everything to recover,” Claudette said. “She’s a strong woman.”
SPS is a mysterious illness with little known about it. The uncontrollable spasms it causes make everyday life incredibly challenging for those affected. Dion’s sister expressed the family’s frustration at not being able to do much to alleviate her pain.
On the cover of a print magazine, Claudette was quoted saying, “I know her spirits are up because we hear it in her voice.” Another quote read, “We pray for a miracle.”

Claudette expressed hope that researchers will find a remedy for this terrible illness. She knows that Celine’s fans share the same sentiment, as they love her not only for her incredible voice but also for the person she is – a remarkable woman and a devoted mother.

Last year, Celine Dion bravely revealed her diagnosis to her fans after canceling several concerts. In a heartfelt message, she shared her struggles with her health and her recent diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome, a condition that affects only one in a million people.
Despite the pain it causes her, Dion is determined to prioritize her health and has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining tour dates for North America.
