CDC pays NFL Alumni Association $3.5M to promote vaccines

The NFL Association just received a big check from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to promote the COVID-19 vaccine. According to U.S. federal procurement documents, $3.5 million was given to the association in hopes of getting the word out to those resisting the jab.
“The overall purpose of this contract is to facilitate collaboration among NFL Alumni and federal state and local public health officials as well as other local leaders to address vaccine hesitancy through communication and engagement with communities less likely to get vaccinated,” stated the CDC’s notice of intent.

The donation was part of a federal government campaign to catch NFL fans and players attention and further get them on board with getting vaccinated. However, many players have continued to resist the vaccine, including Buffalo’s Cole Beasley, Arizona’s DeAndre Hopkins and Tampa’s Leonard Fournette.
