CBS News downplays racist remarks targeting Clarence Thomas made by a Black Attorney General.

Minnesota‍ Democratic‍ Attorney ⁢General Keith‍ Ellison has recently ⁤come ‍under fire‌ for his criticism‌ of Supreme ⁤Court‍ Justice Clarence Thomas

.‍ However, Ellison’s ‌comments took ‍a disturbing turn ⁢when he made a⁣ vile and ‌racist comparison,‌ likening‌ Thomas to ‍a “house⁣ slave.” Shockingly, ⁤CBS ‌News chose to ⁣cover Ellison’s⁤ criticism without acknowledging the racist attack.

Ellison,‌ who ‍is black ‌himself, suggested that Thomas, the⁢ second ⁣black justice ‍to‍ serve ‌on the Supreme ⁤Court, ‌was ‌complicit in suppressing the freedom of others, much like ‌a house slave ⁤who worked alongside‍ the slave master.

“Well, Clarence Thomas⁢ … all‍ you ‍got to …‍ anybody who’s watched the movie ‘Django,’ just watch‍ Stephen, and‍ you see ⁢Clarence ⁣Thomas,”⁢ Ellison said.⁤ “Clarence Thomas has decided that ‍his ⁢best personal‌ interests‌ lie with the ⁤powerful and⁢ the special interests, regardless‍ of ⁣who they may harm.”

GOP Rapid Response‍ Director ⁣Jake Schneider‍ shared a ⁣screenshot‍ of local CBS ⁢News affiliate WCCO’s coverage⁤ of ⁢Ellison’s⁤ remarks.‌ While the headline indicated ⁢criticism of Justice Thomas, there was no mention⁢ of⁤ the‍ racially⁣ charged‌ comparison ⁣Ellison had made.

“AG ⁤Ellison says Justice Clarence Thomas ⁣‘needs‍ to be impeached’ report says,”

“Not‌ even a mention ⁤of his disgusting remark,” Schneider ⁤commented.

“The ⁣left’s vile, vicious attempts to‌ smear Justice Thomas are utterly ‌transparent.‍ They just ⁢can’t stand ‍that he doesn’t share their radical orthodoxy,” observed ⁣Senator Ted Cruz‌ (R-TX) ⁣on Twitter.

George⁣ Washington University⁢ law⁢ professor Jonathan ‌Turley⁣ also criticized Ellison for ‍his comments. He ⁣questioned‌ whether Democrats like‍ Ellison, ‍who ran on⁢ promises to ‌end hateful rhetoric, would hold⁣ themselves‍ accountable for ⁤their⁢ own divisive language.
