CBC Reporter Smears Massive Freedom Convoy, Then Admits He Was Wrong

On Thursday morning, a reporter for the Canadian government’s CBC state broadcaster claimed that a contact for the massive truckers’ convoy protesting vaccine mandates had threatened him, writing that the reporter was a “slave blooded traitor” that would “swing in time.”

The reporter, Dale Manucdoc, tweeted, “These are texts the Toronto contact for the Truckers’ convoy calling itself a Freedom Rally sent me. After calling CBC a virus, he goes on to call me a ‘slave blooded traitor’ that will ‘swing’ in time. All I asked for was an interview.”

Then he posted the exchange, which went like this:

“Contact”: “Enough lies, you slave blooded traitor. Evil will get its due in the end. Tell the f***ing truth.”

Manucdoc: “What are you talking about? Who is the slave and who is the traitor? Why would you call me slave blooded? Also, what are you guys going to do about the vaccine mandate on the other side of the border?”

“Contact”: “You know you tow (sic) the line for the global corporate coup taking place under the guise of public health, you can’t be that dumb. Traitors will swing in time.”

But after having tarred the convoy by claiming the texts came from the “Toronto contact for the Truckers’ convoy” and garnering numerous retweets, ten hours later on Thursday evening Manucdoc admitted he had been mistaken, tweeting, “CLARIFICATION: I received these texts after reaching out to a Toronto contact number listed on a website for the convoy. The texts came from a different number than the contact number. The texter did not identify themselves.”

“Canada ended truckers’ exemption to the vaccine mandate on Jan. 15. The United States has required since Jan. 22 that truckers be fully vaccinated, and some U.S. truckers and other Americans have voiced their solidarity with the protesters on social media,” The Washington Post reported.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said with regard to the convoy that there is a “small fringe minority who are on the way to Ottawa who are holding unacceptable views. … What we are hearing from some people associated with this convoy is completely unacceptable.”

But Tamara Lich, an organizer of the truck convoy, stated, “As you know, we are on our way to Ottawa to hold a peaceful protest. I just want to put it out there that nobody in this convoy will be inciting violence or uttering threats. That is not what we’re here to do.”

According to the Canadian Trucking Alliance, roughly 15% of truckers, about 16,000 drivers, are not fully vaccinated.

“Canada has had some of the most stringent coronavirus mandates in the world. Ontario locked down earlier this month and will only reopen its restaurant dining rooms, gyms and movie theaters at the end of the month. Vaccinations were made mandatory in federally regulated workplaces last year, and the premier of Quebec announced plans this month to penalize residents of the province who remain unvaccinated for nonmedical reasons,” Fox News noted.
